2018 Season on Mt7 is Good to Go!
Despite the huge amount of snow this past winter, the Lookout Launch on Mt. 7 was completely vehicle accessible on May 20th this year. Just a week prior, the road was blocked with snow at the 11km mark. Having gone up the mountain on the evening of May 20th with the intent to fly out of the 9k launch, I was surprised to find that the road was in excellent shape right to the Lookout.
Several regulars wasted no time getting down to flying XC in great conditions in the week of May 21. Scott Watwood beamed his way south all the way to Wasa and top landed in a flight that lasted 9 hours. Ray Schmidt and Teo Tschurtschenthaler did out and returns to Parson. The next day Hugo Tschurtschenthaler did an out and return to Invermere (about 220km in total) and the day after that Scott Watwood headed north across the wilds of Howse Pass, up past the Columbia Icefields and made it to a point just a little bit short of Jasper. Great job guys!
As of May 27, Altitude Adventures (Scott, Hugo & Mike) were starting to accept tandem bookings for the 2018 season.
…so it’s full on 2018. Come on out and get at those spring thermals!
