2023 Paragliding & Hang Gliding Season is Good To Go

As of May 11, 2023 the 15km stretch of the Bowle-Evans forestry road up to the Lookout Launch was clear and fully accessible by vehicle. This is early access for the Lookout due to a low snow year and unusually warm May temperatures. (30c downtown for a string of days starting May 11).

The main problem this year appears to be an equally early start to the wildfire season. Smoke was blowing into the Columbias as early as May 16.

This year The Golden Riverside Campground (formerly GEAR) in Nicholson is open for business and is happy to welcome flyers to the main LZ on the property. You simply need to check in at the office, fill out the waiver and pay the season landing fee of $50. (A day pass is $10). This can be achieved online as well.
