Well the 2019 paragliding and hang gliding season on Mount 7 has come and gone. Snow arrived at The Lookout at the end of September this year. While there were a few warmer days in the valley through October, snow on the upper part of the access road continued to accumulate. The 2018 season got off to an early start this year with the Lookout launch accessible by vehicle on the May 21st long weekend. The remaining days in May proved to be perfect weather for a number of epic XC flights.

Well it’s the time of year when the end of winter is just over the horizon. Thoughts start turning to acquiring “the latest, greatest and coolest” gear for 2017. Simultaneously, enticing equipment ads start showing up – now usually in the form of beautifully made YouTube or Vimeo videos.
The 2017 hang gliding and paragliding season in Golden BC will soon be upon us. Time to get signed up for the event of the season – The annual Willi-XC Challenge…
In 2016 The Willi-XC will be bigger and better! We will be celebrating the 20th Willi, the 25th year of paragliding competitions in Golden, and 40+ years of hang gliding in the Columbia Valley. All pilots who have flown Golden, past and present, are invited to join us for a Retro Night, Saturday, July 30 – a band, dancing, old friends and likely some stories! Wear an old t-shirt or flight suit, and enjoy a reunion with old pilots and new. You don’t need to participate in the Willi to attend.
Here’s what you need to know to participate in the actual flying competition…
